CHARGES DROPPED AGAINST IRAQI OFFICIALS

A court has dropped charges, at least for now, against two former government officials accused of allowing Shiite death squads to use ambulances and government hospitals to carry out kidnappings and killings, attorneys said Monday.

The case has been seen by minority Sunnis in this majority-Shiite country as a major test of the judiciary system, because a Shiite prime minister, Nouri al-Maliki, leads the government.

The charges could be reinstated if prosecutors successfully appeal the decision to drop the charges against former Deputy Health Minister Hakim al-Zamili and Brig. Ge...

Bin Laden lashes out at Arab leaders in new msg.

Osama bin Laden released a new message on Sunday that accused Arab leaders of sacrificing the Palestinians and called on Muslim militants in Egypt to help break the blockade of Gaza.

"Those (Arab) kings and leaders sacrificed Palestine and Al-Aqsa to keep their crowns. ... But we will not be relieved of this responsibility," bin Laden said in the audio message posted on an Islamic militant Web site where al-Qaida leaders have issued past statements.
