RICE SAYS TALKS SHOULD RESUME QUICKLYX

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has declared that peace and negotiations are the choice of his people but fell short of announcing a resumption of peace talks that his government cut off after an upsurge in fighting between Israel and Hamas-ruled Gaza.

Abbas urged Israel to "halt its aggression" in order to create an environment in which peace talks can succeed.

He made his comments in a joint press conference with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

For her part, Rice said she believes peace ultimately can be achieved and that the peace negotiators won't let tho...

Bin Laden lashes out at Arab leaders in new msg.

Osama bin Laden released a new message on Sunday that accused Arab leaders of sacrificing the Palestinians and called on Muslim militants in Egypt to help break the blockade of Gaza.

"Those (Arab) kings and leaders sacrificed Palestine and Al-Aqsa to keep their crowns. ... But we will not be relieved of this responsibility," bin Laden said in the audio message posted on an Islamic militant Web site where al-Qaida leaders have issued past statements.
